Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

Competition is ending.

Another year. Another way of club life. I know!! Lets do something fun. I know there are alot of you out there who can make CSS!

So lets have a competition for our beloved Crikey.

Make an Australian Themed CSS for ~crikey

I will give you the option of colors, and how it is set out.

But I request that you make the journal body as simple as possible.. none of that div div div div journal body writing here /div /div/div/dibv asdlfjakkdjfka bleh!!! no.. simple.. easy to understand stuff will be just fine.

If you want to have the current journal css to work out how to use it, go here: Current Crikey CSS and just copy and paste it to a notepad for you to work on!

You do not have to use that, you can create new headers and footers..

Make it fancy, enjoyable to look at, and something that will attract others.

Australian themes are not in short supply. So think of tourist destinations - perhaps even look at websites that show beautiful things about australia.
heres a few ideas just in case you are still stuck...

Coastal areas, Our beautiful red desert, Landmarks, City scapes [australian only, please!], People showing their heritage [aboriginals, peeps wearing yellow and green face paint, or the flag or something like that], farmland, sunsets, sunrise, weather, aussie traditions, aussie sports can even be an option.

The list goes on and on..

why cant those who can do great graphics but dont know much about css, just do a DESIGN in a JPG format!!??

So you want to have the Crikey journal look a particular way? you know what you want it to look like, but you've no idea how to go about it?

Easy, just make a picture of what you think it could look like. Enter it into this competition! If you win, we will find someone to make that css for us, using your template image as a guide.

I'm sad this kinda didn't get going, and I'm part of that as I didn't get around to entering, I think the problem was that I kinda forgot about it after a bit of time. So maybe a weekly update or whatever, just a reminder to people that the contest is one, that way people should remember to enter. I think it'd help at least anyway, keep it in peoples minds
