Dialectical Dessertism: The ContestIt has long been debated just how cake and pie came to be bitter enemies (and occassional allies against other desserts). Some say it started in the Middle Ages when butter was first used for both unequally awesome desserts.

What's this Contest About?
It's pretty simple. You're going to answer a very simple question. What is the origin of the pie/cake debacle? How you go about doing that is completely up to you. But since you have complete creative freedom to write history, we're expecting some very interesting (to say the least) renditions.

Emoticon TournamentAfter months of waiting and anticipation, the "Secret Contest" I had planned is here! I bring you, the Emoticon Tournament!

I will then select a topic, and then you and your opponent will face off and make an emote based on the theme. LTdAB Poetry Slam Submission Folder Open!We had a great time chatting with our participants, prize donors, judges and fellow writers yesterday. The month is approaching its end, and we have finally created and opened our contest folder for the poetry slam. Get those entries in as soon as you feel they are ready, but before the deadline at 11:59 PM CST May 31st, 2013. Here's a rundown of what all we expect an entry to have and be when submitted:

Entries must follow the theme of Self-Identity and must be work written for this contest.

Entries must be literature deviations containing the text of the slam poem with a link to where the audio can be heard.

The performance of the slam poem must be between 1-3 minutes. If it is longer or shorter we will ask you to modify the poem.

Video submissions are accepted (via a link to youtube in the writer's comments of the literature deviation)

Freedom of Expression Contest Rules and Guidelines
These are the "Freedom of Expression" rules and guidelines. Please read them before you submit anything.If you submit something that doesn't follow the rules you are going to be declined (and in some cases blocked).

Brisbane Christmas deviantART Meet

There is a Brisbane ( Australia ) deviantART Meet being planned for Sunday the 14th of December to be held at Southbank Parklands. If you're interested in coming, please contact ~crikey.

Details:

Date: Sunday 14th December

Location: South Bank Parklands

Time: Around 10am. The initial meeting will, as usual, be at the Piazza.

What to bring: Sketch books, camera, swimmers, yourself.

Extras: We will bein South Bank very early to make sure we get a decent BBQ, probably close to swimming. One of us will go to the Piazza to meet everyone and whoever it is, is going to wait until 11am for everyone to get there. If you can't make it, or if you get lost, can you please give one of us a call.
