Crikey History.. A little history lesson on ~crikey and why it was created. ~crikey was basically made one late night while chatting in the Shoutbox with a couple of other Aussies. We decided to name it "crikey" for the pure fun of it. It was just a joke (the name). In birthing ~crikey, we were opening our doors for everyone, Australian or not. ~crikey is one of the first original "clubs" or "sub-communities" to deviantART, coming into action around the same time as #dapride and *birthdays. The single purpose of ~crikey is to showcase Australia to the world, with Australia being so popular and all.
This account was not created for the purpose of showcasing deviants or for deviants to get exposure. It was created to showcase the land downunder which we call home and to display Australian or Australian-relatedonly art. Photography, drawings, prose (whatever) on Australian places, people, products, history, etc etc.
The club has been through some turbulent times over the years, going from an open public account, changing over to another admin team and then back again to it's founder; but essentially it's the same great club it has ever been - and that's thanks to it's fantastic members!
So now, we have two originals and three new admin on board, including myself. The founder (myself) `NyssaB - I will be remaining here to oversee what happens, help the others with decisions, etc. They call me the "bosslady". My staff are: `KylieKeene, `flameturret, `Astarsia, `mirrorkills, and `cdaile.
The original #Crikey chatroom is welcome to all who wish to use it! It is not restricted to Australians.
So, I want to welcome you to ~crikey and encourage you to get involved with the activities, learn about Australia, see the sights or find some new friends in the chat room! Most of all though, have fun!

How to join the club?In the past we have asked you to join as a member, but a decision was made that it is such a big thing, and we were receiving so many joins that it was impossible to keep up with it when we got so busy with other things outside of dA.
So to deal with this problem, this club is now a join-free club. You are automatically a member if you watch us, and our members list will be the list of watchers on the userpage.
So how do you join!? Simply watch us, and we will be grateful of your company!
As for affiliates, we are still adding them to our watch list so that they are easier to locate for Australians to check out.
